What are changeover switches?

A changeover switch is an electrical device that enables the safe transfer of power between two different sources – for example, switching from the utility grid to a backup generator during an outage. LOVATO’s flexible control options

Our motorised changeover switches offer two operating modes: impulse logic, which moves the switch to the selected position after a control pulse, and contactor logic, which keeps the switch in position while the command is active, returning to “0” when the command is removed (with auxiliary power).

Designed for space efficiency, the three-pole version is just 294mm (11.57”) wide, and the four-pole version is 328mm (12.91”), making them ideal for tight installations.

Users can choose between impulse or contactor logic for quick or continuous control flexibility, while the built-in expansion slot allows for easy system upgrades with additional relay outputs or a Modbus-RTU RS485 communication port. Both the three-pole and four-pole versions come pre-assembled for simple installation, and with motor supply options of 24VDC, 110 -125VAC/DC, and 208–277VAC, they ensure compatibility with a wide range of setups.
