QUESTION
Which type of motor controls does the LOVATO Electric VFnC3 motor drive include?
ANSWER
VFnC3 can control motor driving in a number of ways and to select based on the exact application:
• Constant torque
Motor torque is maintained at a constant value while motor speed changes.
This setting is suitable when there are loads requiring the same torque at low and high speed levels, for instance conveyor belts or cranes.
• Variable torque
Motor torque increases with motor speed.
This setting is appropriate with loads such as pumps or fans which require torque value to be greater than speed increase.
• Sensorless vector control
Motor torque is greater at low speed ranges.
This function is useful when one needs a stable starting with smooth load operation when move up from low speed values and to avoid or eliminate load fluctuations caused by motor slippage (i.e. difference between drive and motor speeds).
• Energy-saving operation
In this case and in all frequency (speed) ranges, the motor is driven by detecting load current and optimising the power flow that fits the load.
